Most days do not get specially marked on the calendar, but some dates we will always remember just where we were and what we were doing when we heard The News. Let’s talk about what memory holds and, maybe, why.
Thanks to transportation networks, cheap energy, and international trade treaties, the notion of produce “in season” becomes less a part of our menu planning. But seasons remain an important reality of life.

There is a holiday in Canada celebrating when women were declared to be persons. Still there are many in our world who
are not recognized or treated as persons – by the law, by us.
Sure, it’s legal for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender persons to marry. It is also still legal for LGBT persons to be fired, evicted and otherwise discriminated against in Pennsylvania. What’s to do?
Our recognition and celebration of the importance of pets and other animals and of the blessing we are to each other is in October this year. It “just happens” to be on St. Francis Day; we’ll talk about that, and the Pope too.
