The work of democracy is ongoing and requires constant tending and practice. What are the practices that allow us to move forward with courage? The Sikh writer and activist, Valarie Kaur, passes on the lesson that she learned from her own grandfather and the Sikh tradition: “Don’t abandon your post.” She and others remind us that what we are doing is generational work. Indeed, whatever our future holds, it is entrusted to us to do the ongoing work of healing and to engage in the healing practices of democracy on behalf of the Common Good.
