Each year the Greater Norristown NAACP scholarship committee, with the help of educators, identities one outstanding male and one outstanding female African American student in each Norristown middle school. These students enter the Future Leaders Program were they are mentored and encouraged to seek post-secondary school education. Students that remain in the district, meet all academic standards and participate in extracurricular activities are awarded a modest scholarship upon graduation. In 2015 four students received a NAACP scholarship. The way out of poverty is education and the support of people that care. Help the NAACP continue its scholarship program. Due to the poor economy donations to the scholarship program are down. Your help is desperately needed.
