TPUUF Members and Friends braved cold, nearly rainy weather for the Perkiomen Watershed Stream Cleanup

A big thank you to everyone that endured cold weather and potential rain showers to participate in the Perkiomen Watershed Stream Cleanup this year. TPUUF had a record number of people that expressed interest this year (18) and, while the weather kept some at home, a group of 11 TPUUF members and friends wandered throughout the Alvin C. Alderfer park in Hatfield removing any trash that we could find. The township does a good job keeping the park clean, but we still collected 5 full bags. Overall, the PWC had over 1770 volunteers working at 182 locations and removed 1,815 bags of trash, 231 tires and 3,420 lbs of scrap metal. Wow!

There are other opportunities to assist the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy throughout the year, including tree plantings, invasive plant removal from local ponds, and a native plant sale throughout the year. Please check out their website www.perkiomenwatershed.org for the dates/times if you are interested in working with them on any of their other projects.
