Minister’s Message – July 2026

Instead of a separate article, I am re-printing my Minister’s Report to the congregation from our meeting in June. As a note — please remember that my schedule over the summer is quite sporadic. My normal “office days” are on hold until the fall — but don’t be worried, I’m still around! I’m happy to make time and can be reached via phone (412-327-3731) or e-mail (minister@tpuuf.org). If you want to see my monthly summaries of ministry in
the past church year, look here: Minister Reports to the Board of Directors for 2025/26.

I think that accountability is very important in employment, whether ministry or any other occupation. My reports show the Board — and you as congregation members — what I have done as your employee. But ministry is much more than tasks and reports. My job is also to walk with each and every one of you on life’s journey. Being present with each other is a much harder task to measure or enumerate. Anther odd aspect of this job is that I expect you to work with me. We have shared ministry, where everyone is asked to join together in the joint occupation of “minister.”

So what does shared ministry mean? It means that we can each look at ourselves — our personal actions and
our communal participation — and assess how our ministry is going. As we reflect on the past church year
and plan for the future of TPUUF, I encourage self and communal reflection of our shared ministry. Here are
some useful questions for you to think about as we reflect and plan:

  • Have our worship services inspired me and others to live our best selves?
…Where have I been involved in worship?
  • Has our congregation reached out to those in need of pastoral support?
…At what times have I given or received care?
  • Where has TPUUF stood up for justice and peace in our community and the world?
…When have I taken a stand or engaged in social justice action?
  • What opportunities for spiritual growth and learning have been provided at or through TPUUF?
…What steps have I taken to keep myself grounded, renewed and grow in my faith?

These aren’t easy questions, nor should they be. That’s why we enter ministry together! We can ask one other how we are doing and we can help one another along the path. Let’s keep doing this difficult and life-changing work together. I remain blessed and honored to be a minister among ministers at TPUUF.

In Shared Ministry,
Rev. Andrew L. Weber
