President’s Message
December, 2025
Dear TPUUF Community,
In today’s tumultuous times—when uncertainty can feel relentless—choosing hope becomes an act
of courage and of community. Within the Unitarian Universalist tradition, hope is not passive
optimism but a lived commitment to the inherent worth and dignity of every person, the
interdependence of all life, and the ongoing search for truth and meaning. It is a purposeful choice to
cultivate compassion in the face of division, to pursue justice in the face of inequity, and to nurture
beloved community in the face of isolation. Grounded in these principles, we affirm that even in
difficulty we can reach toward one another, envision a more just and generous future, and take the
small, faithful steps that help bring it into being.
Hope also deepens when we remember that we do not strive alone. Across this nation, people are
transforming their longing for a better world into courageous actions that move us closer to it. The
Unitarian Universalist call to “accept one another and encourage spiritual growth” reminds us that
resilience takes root in community, where each person’s light helps illuminate the path for others. Even the smallest gestures of care—listening deeply, showing up for justice, practicing gratitude—
become threads in a larger tapestry of collective renewal. As we honor the interconnected web of
which we are a part, we come to understand that hope is not simply something we feel; it is
something we build together, moment by moment, through acts of love, solidarity, and shared
purpose.
In Hope,
Linda Weaver
