President’s Message – September 2025

Dear Beloved Community,

As we gather together this month under the theme of “Building Belonging,” I invite you to reflect on the significance of this concept within our Unitarian Universalist faith. At its heart, building belonging means fostering connections that honor every person’s worth and dignity, aligning beautifully with our principles of justice, equity, and compassion.

In a world that often feels divided, our commitment to creating an inclusive spiritual home is more vital than ever. The first principle of our faith reminds us that we affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person. When we embrace this principle, we create spaces where everyone feels valued, welcomed, and truly seen. It is up to each of us to actively nurture environments where diversity is celebrated, and every voice is heard.

Transitioning from mere acceptance to genuine belonging requires intention and effort. It asks us to engage deeply—listening to one another’s stories and understanding the unique journeys that each person has navigated. Building belonging means reaching out, inviting participation, and ensuring that all community members find a place to contribute their gifts, share their struggles, and offer their joys.

This month, let us embody our second principle, which calls us to justice, equity, and compassion in human relations. As we seek to deepen our connections, I encourage all of us to ask: How can I extend compassion to those around me? What actions can I take to bridge gaps and foster understanding? Real transformation begins with small, consistent acts of kindness and connection.

As we come together in worship, discussion, and fellowship, let us consciously weave a tapestry of belonging that reflects our shared values. Whether through small group activities, community service projects, or simply sharing a meal together, each encounter is an opportunity to strengthen our bonds with one another.

May this month of reflection inspire us all to contribute to a nurturing, inclusive community where every individual feels an enduring sense of belonging. Together, let us create a sanctuary that resonates with our Unitarian Universalist principles, reminding us that we are not just a community—we are a family.

With love and hope,
Linda Weaver
